I had the great honor to spend a day with Seth Godin last week. At the event I asked a question about how to get board members and entrenched staff to really dive into fundraising. I was looking for advice on how to move some of my clients and members to swing outside their comfort [...]
Ignite Your Fundraising
Member message from Laura Lewis
It was the fall of 2007 when I met Laura Lewis at a breakout session I was delivering for the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits’ annual conference. (Join me again this fall in Duluth!) Laura’s focus is grant writing through her company Grand Development, but she was hungry to learn more about how to help her clients increase their individual donor fundraising dollars.
I was delighted to have Laura become a member of my online fundraising community in 2009. I really value her wisdom about the grant writing process and how she holds her clients accountable for their role in submitting a grant request. Laura has even had funders call HER to ask her to work with nonprofits that have great ideas but are not so good at articulating them in their grant proposals.
Laura’s focus these days is on making sure social profit organizations have the tools to submit powerful grant proposals. She is a believer, as am I, that it’s more powerful to teach others to fish than to catch the fish for them.
You can meet Laura here in this month’s member message AND you can absorb some of her wisdom during the next member webinar: Easy Steps To Effective Grant Writing, Sept. 16, 2010 at 11 am.

This year I’m giving my birthday to [...]
